无色的呈粒状的结晶物,性质稳定,在大气中不会分解挥发和变质,无毒(有镇静作剧),对皮肤无刺激作用。易潮解,有微苦味。能溶于甲醇、乙醇、戊醇、甘油、乙二醇、丙酮、乙醚、许多有机酸、酯类等有机溶剂,不溶于液溴中,不能形成多溴化物。具有很强的吸水性,并极易溶于水

用途  是一种高效的水蒸气吸收剂和空气湿度调节剂。54%~55%浓度的溴化锂可用作吸收式制冷剂。在有机化学中用作氯化氢脱除剂,有机纤维(如羊毛、头发等)膨松剂。医药上用作催眠剂和镇静剂。此外,还用于感光工业、分析化学以及某些高能电池中的电解质和化学试剂。
